The Greenway hiking trails suggest the following cultural and historical attractions:

Astano

  • Church of San Pietro: Built in 1654 on the ruins of a chapel which was part of the Monastery of the Humiliated. (further information)

  • Church of San Lorenzo: Built in Baroque style and known for its  belfry as well as its neo-classical facade. (further information)

Brusino Arsizio

  • Church of San Michele: A structure built in Baroque style and renovated in 1944. A real treasure of frescos of the late medieval period.
  • Church of Beata Vergine Addolorata: Located in  Terniciolo and dating back to the eighteenth century.
  • Funicular: Provides access for visitors to a viewing point at 650 meters on the slopes of Monte San Giorgio.  (further information)

Cadro

  • Church of Sant’Agata: Inscirbed in the list of cultural heritage of cantonal interest in 1938.  (further information)

Capolago

  • Church of Santa Maria Maddalena: The church dates back to the fourteenth century. Enlarged for the first time in 1581 and designed by Carlo Maderno, the great architect who also designed the facade of St.Peter’s basilica in Rome. (further information)

Carona

  • Park San Grato: Botanical garden with a size of 6 hectares. Extraordinary view of the Lake of Lugano and the surrounding mountain peaks.
  • Church of  Madonna d’Ongero: Built in the eighteenth century and located in the heart of the park San Grato between beech and chestnut trees.
  • Church of San Giorgio: Built in the sixteenth century with an elegant protico with five arcades. (further information)

Corticiasca

  • Church of San Barnaba: Consecrated in 1487 and built on the base of an old religious building. (further information)

Fojorina

  • Natural reserve Valsolda: A place in the wild and picturesque nature, located at 700m above the valley of the river Soldo. (further information)

Gola di Lago

  • Oratory of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice: Small oratory surrounded by nature. Inside the chapel you can find parts of a fresco dating back to the sixteenth century and showing Madonna and her child together with the two saints Rocco and Girolamo. (ulteriori informazioni)

Meride

  • Church of Parrocchiale di San Sylvester:  Church from the sixteenth century with frescos made by Francesco Antonio Giorgioli.
  • Church of San Rocco: Built in the late neoclassical style and mentioned for the first time in historical documents in 1578.
  • Chapel of Madonna del Visacco: Bulit in the late neoclassical style.
  • Family residence Oldelli: The family residence consists of arcades built in colonial style of the eighteenth century.
  • Museum of Paleontology: The museum was reconstructed by the Ticinese architect Mario Botta and exhibits a collection of flora and fauna fossils of Monte San Giorgio.  (further information)

Miglieglia

  • Church of Santo Stefano al Colle: The church holds architectural elements of the late Gothic and Romantic period. (further information)

Morcote

  • Santa Maria del Sasso: Chiesa  in stile Rinascente-Barocco, con  campanile in stile Romanico.
  • Parco Scherrer:  fu il giardino privato della vedova Scherrer e nel 1965 ed ereditato al Comune di Morcote.
  • I Portici: Costruiti con il materiale di vecchie case abbandonate,  sono considerati  i più belli  della regione.
  • Castello di Morcote: Costruito dalla Famiglia Visconti. Oggi i terreni del castello sono usati per la produzione di vino ticinese. (ulteriori informazioni)

Paradiso

  • Funicolare Monte San Salvatore: Costruita nel 1890, ha una configurazione insolita di due distinte sezioni a binario unico. (ulteriori informazioni)

Pazzallo

  • Museo Mario Bernasconi: Ospita un archivio comprendente numerose foto e scritti originali, nonché le prime opere eseguite a Pazzallo dall’artista.
  • Capo San Martino: Storicamente chiamata Forca, in occasione delle numerose impiccagioni avvenuto in questo luogo.
  • Oratorio Santa Croce e San Barnaba: Aula rettangolare che può ospitare fino a 60 persone. Inoltre, il suo prestigio è innalzato dalla presenza di due dipinti: la Natività e l’esaltazione della Santa Croce. (ulteriori informazioni)

  • Museum of fossils from Meride: The museum of fossils of Monte San Giorgio was renovated and redesigned by the Ticinese architect Mario Botta mandated by the municipality of Meride. Since October 13 2012 the museum is open to the public and can be found in the middle of the town of Meride.
