There are many attractions to visit in Meride such as the parish church of St. Sylvester from the sixteenth century with frescoes by Francesco Antonio Giorgioli, the church of San Rocco and also the chapel of Madonna del Visacco in late classical style. On Monte San Giorgio you can find the beautiful old chapel of the same name. Another place worth visiting is the home of the family Oldelli with porches in the colonial style of the eighteenth century.
Museum of Paleontology: The Fossil Museum in Meride, renovated and enlarged by the Swiss architect Mario Botta, houses a collection of fossils of flora and fauna from Monte San Giorgio. Monte San Giorgio is declared a world natural heritage by UNESCO.
Excursions: From Meride you have the possibility to do excursions to Serpiano or to the alp Brusino. There is also a nature trail on Monte San Giorgio.
