Monte Caprino is not far away from Gandria. It is located between two mountains: Monte Brè and San Salvatore. The area of Caprino was a popular place for smugglers during the last world war.
The hiking trail to Monte Caprino starts with a relaxing boat trip before walking up to the summit. Once you reach the peak, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the lake of Lugano and admire the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
Along the way there are many must-see attractions such as the famous Grottoes which will offer you the opportunity to taste typical dishes of the canton of Ticino. On the way back, we recommend to visit the museum of customs in Gandria to better understand the border system of the past but also the recent one.
